Panjab University VC Prof. Arun K. Grover chaired meeting of all Wardens and DSWs

Chandigarh, July 22, 2016: In order to take a stock of hostel issues, Panjab University (PU), Vice Chancellor Prof. Arun K. Grover today chaired a meeting of all Wardens and DSWs at the VC Committee Room.
In the meeting Prof Grover advised the Wardens that the issues related to the students regarding hostel accommodation, cleanliness, mess facilities and other issues should be taken up on priority basis.
The Vice-Chancellor further instructed the Wardens as under:
1. Take care of proper maintenance of the hostels. Proper hygiene and cleanliness be maintained in and around the hostel, particularly in the messes/canteens of the hostels.
2. Complete transparency be maintained in the hostels regarding allotment of hostels. A list of hostel residents be displayed on the notice board along with the rooms they have been allotted. Also the name of students sharing room, if any, be also displayed for independent monitoring of the things. Logging be also made available with DSW Office and IQAC.
3. Wardens to allot the hostels to the students themselves and interact with the students at the time of hostel admission.
4. Wardens need to interact with the residents and make it a continuous process.
5. A roster of Wardens (one male and one female) duties be prepared by the DSW to assist the DSWs in their Office from early in the morning till 7.00 p.m. till the admission process is going on so that students visiting in the DSW Office may not face any problem. The Chairperson of the Departments of Teachers-Wardens to be put on duty be informed and their duty be counted as presence in the Department. Dean of University Instruction will issue instructions to the Departments in this regard so that time-table of the Wardens on duty be adjusted accordingly.
6. Vice-Chancellor assured that he will conduct a meeting with the XEN for attending the problems of hostels on priority basis. XEN will be advised to look into the lifts of the hostels/departments and ensure their maintenance and proper working. This aspect will be taken care of the Secretary to V.C.
