New Delhi, July 12 (IANS) An event was organised here Saturday to bring a sustainable change in the lives of street children.
Organised by a non-governmental organisation (NGO) Childhood Enhancement through Training and Action (CHETNA), representatives from the police, government and other NGOs attended the day-long consultation.
The participants agreed that only the government has the resources and the authority to ensure children's rights at a national level.
Chairperson of National Commission for Protection of Child Rights Kaushal Singh was also present.
"We need to have a separate ministry for children and full convergence of all the already existing institutions working for children. We will take up these issues with the government on priority," she said.
