Ferozepur, June 1, 2015: Hundreds of NSUI workers were preventively detained by the police officials during the visit of Union Minister Maneka Gandhi in Ferozepur today. As per the scheduled programme, Maneka Gandhi reached to the circuit house in the morning. Meanwhile, hundreds of NSUI workers led by Iqbal Garewal, President, NSUI, Punjab, Jaswinder Jassi, All India General Secretary, NSUI, Dawinder Yadav, NSUI Punjab In-charge, Gubhej Tibbi and other youth congress leaders, started their protest in front of the circuit house and raised anti NDA slogans.

As soon as the protest intensified, the police officials forcibly detained the NSUI leaders and sent them to Kulgarhi Police Station. All of them however were released in the afternoon.

While talking to the media persons later, Iqbal Garewal said that the workers of NSUI were holding the protest in a peaceful manner. “However, we were highlighting the failures of Modi Government and that is why the police used force to chock our voice”, “The exhibition of achievements made by Narendra Modi led NDA government is nothing more than a bunch of lies”, added Gurbhej Tibbi, NSUI leader.

The NSUI alleged that Modi led NDA government has failed to fulfill its promises. “Nothing has been done to control the inflation; nothing has been done for the black money. Most of the schemes initiated by the PM, has been proved a big failure, now they can say that they have brought “Achhe din”, said Iqbal Garewal.
