Ludhiana, March 29, 2016: A senior Ludhiana Municipal Corporation official has informed that as per the letter received from the Punjab government’s Local Government Department, there will be a complete ban on polythene (plastic) carry bags and thermocol (excluding packing material) from April 1, 2016 onwards. The official informed that the residents have already been educated about this ban by installing hoardings in different parts of the city. As per this ban, there would be a complete ban on manufacturing, stocking, distribution, reuse, selling and using polythene (plastic) carry bags and thermocol material that can be used only once. The Ludhiana Municipal Corporation has appealed to all city residents, shopkeepers, hotel owners, religious places and other organizations to follow the ban from April 1, 2016 onwards. The MC has made it clear that all violators would attract strict legal action.
