New lift of higher capacity to be constructed in Shimla

Shimla, November 26, 2016: In order to facilitate the tourist's and local public, a new lift of a higher capacity and speed has been proposed by the department of Tourism and Civil Aviation near the existing HPTDC Lift in Shimla town with the financial assistance of Asian Development Bank (ADB) under Shimla Mall Road Beautification project for which works are being executed presently.

Shri Mohan Chauhan, Commissioner (Tourism and Civil Aviation) informed here today that the foundation stone of this proposed lift will be laid on 29th November 2016 by Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh.

Shri Chauhan said the proposal has been approved by the ADB and the Heritage Committee. This project will help in facilitating the tourists and locals as well. He said that this proposed lift will have carrying capacity of about 25 persons and it will connect Cart Road to Mall Road. The lift will be constructed at a cost of about Rs 6.50 crore. The Department will also beautify the façade of the existing lift, he added.

He said this lift will be equipped with all modern facilities like emergency alarm system, music, telephone connectivity and auto climate controlling system etc.
