New 11 Government Degree Colleges To Commence From 2016-17 In Punjab

Chandigarh, October 6, 2015: With the view to provide affordable and quality higher education to the youth in the state, the academic activities in newly 11 Government Degree Colleges would be commenced from Session 2016-17. It was disclosed by Mr.Surjit Singh Rakhra, Higher Education and Languages Minister, Punjab.
Mr.Rakhra reiterated the SAD-BJP Government resolve to provide quality education to the youth of Border, Rural and Far Flung areas of the state at an affordable rate. He said that working in this direction, the state government is constructing new Government Degree Colleges at Ferozepur, Sujanpur, Dhamkot, Phillaur, Pathankot, Nakodar, Kishankot (Gurdaspur), Bahadurgarh (Mansa), Barnala, Dhuri and Moonak.
The Minister said that these colleges were being constructed with the cost of Rs. 138.50 crore and the academic study in these colleges would be commenced from next session 2016-17. He said that the construction work at all the sites has been commenced and some of the colleges like Ferozepur and Pathankot were near compellation.
