Annual Feature Of Salary Delay Of Teaching Staff Tackled

Chandigarh, April 27, 2015: The Punjab Education Department today found a permanent solution to a 67 year old problem that resulted in delay in release of salary to thousands of teaching staff in the month of April. The Accountant General (AG) Office today issued permanent Drawing and Disbursing powers that wouldn’t require fresh sanction every April causing delay of salaries to teaching staff.

Disclosing this here today Education Minister, Punjab, Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema said that every year file was moved in month of April for renewal of DDO powers and till the file was cleared by Finance Department, there was usual delay of 1 month till the release of salary to the teaching staff.

DPI (Secondary Education) Balbir Singh said that case has been sent to AG office through Finance Department by Education Department. On the initiative of Education Minister AG office has agreed to grant permanent issued the Drawing and Disbursing officers powers that would not cause chronic delay after every financial year.

He further said that now DDO powers have been issued and now, the department employees would get their salaries very soon. He said that from now onwards, the teachers would not have to encounter any delay in getting their salaries as the department has found a permanent solution to the issue.
