National pharmacy teachers training programme begins at PU
Chandigarh, September 23, 2019: A one week faculty training school, on “Hands-on Training and Advancements in Chromatography” from September 23 to 28, 2019 was inaugurated today at University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS), Panjab University Campus, for pharma faculty participants across the country under the initiative of UGC Networking Resource Centre (NRC). A total of 20 participants have been selected for training, hailing from various Colleges/Universities, representing 10 different states of India. The training school started today i.e. September 23, 2019 in the Golden Jubilee Seminar Hall of Panjab University Campus, with an aim to provide insights and hands-on training on sophisticated chromatographic techniques. Professor Kanwaljit Chopra, Programme Coordinator of the training school welcomed the participants and briefed them about the accomplishments of UGC-NRC programmes. Professor Anil Kumar, Dean Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, apprised the participants about the achievements of UIPS and infrastructure available at the Institute. Professor Maninder Karan, Course Coordinator, summarized about the course content to the participants and Dr Jai Malik, Joint Course Coordinator conducted the proceedings of the event. The function was inaugurated by Dr G. N. Singh, Director, Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, Ghaziabad, and Drugs Controller General (India), Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDCSO), who was the Chief Guest and delivered the Key Note Address on "Role of Separation Technologies in Setting Pharmacopoeia Standards.” Subsequent session started with a lecture on the Fundamentals of Chromatography by the Course Coordinator, Professor Maninder Karan. The post-lunch session covered Hands-on Chromatographic Techniques (TLC, PTLC, Chromatotron) by the Coordinators. UIPS is the first and the only Pharmacy Institute in the country selected by MHRD for creating UGC Networking Resource Centre to promote and foster research and academics in the field of Pharmaceutical Sciences by training young pharma trainers, selected across the nation.
