NATIONAL INTEGRATION WEEK: WELFARE OF MINORITIES DAY CELEBRATED IN LUDHIANA

Ludhiana, November 20, 2018: Welfare of Minorities Day was celebrated in the city today. This day is a part of the ongoing National Integration Week celebrations and a function regarding the same was organised by the District Welfare Office, Department of Social Justice and Empowerment and Minorities at Dr BR Ambedkar Bhawan in District Administrative Complex, here today.

During this function, details about the welfare schemes related to the minority community were given and the problems being faced by the minority communities (muslim, jain, christian, buddhist, Sikh and Parsi) were discussed. If any person from minority communities faces any problem related to the welfare schemes, they can contact the office of District Welfare Officer, Ludhiana.

Various speakers urged the audience to not discriminate any person on the basis of religion, caste or creed so that our country can grow further and become stronger.

Those who addressed the function included Mr Albert Dua, Member, Punjab Minority Commission, Mr Jasdev Singh, District Welfare Officer, Mr Rupinder Singh, Inspector, Police Department, Mr Kulwant Singh, Tehsil Welfare Officer Jagraon, Mr Vicky, Tehsil Welfare Officer Khanna, Mr Harish Kumar, Tehsil Welfare Officer Ludhiana, Mr Harvinder Singh from the office of District Education Officer (Elementary), Mr Parkash Peter, President, Ludhiana Pastor Association, Mr Robin Thapa Pastor, Mr Babu Emmanuel, Mrs Loveleen Akhtar, besides several others.
