Students from the Department of Textile Design of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar during their visit to a handloom unit.
Jalandhar, August 10, 2015: On 7 August 2015, students from the Department of Textile Design of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar visited Nakodar, District Jalandhar to learn the technique of weaving durries under the expert guidance of seasoned durry makers of the district. They learnt to shuttle on pit loom during the visit. The students expressed their gratitude for the weavers who had spared time to teach them the finer nuances of durry making. The students who trained with the durry makers were Navdeep, Nimrat, Palak, Ridhima, Shital, Palak of B.D. Semester VII, Harpreet and Shailja from B.D. Semester V and Anshula, Rhythm, Jashanpreet, Kirandeep and Abheyroop of B.D. Semester III. Dr. Sucharita, Principal of the College praised the team of students from Textile Design led by Dr. Maneet Kaur Chattwal for making the efforts to learn the traditional craft of durry making.
