Punjab Governor, Prof.Kaptan Singh Solanki at the Annual Day Function of Sainik School, Kapurthala.
Kapurthala, November 8, 2015: Speaking in Annual Day Function of Sainik School Kapurthala, the Punjab Governor, Prof.Kaptan Singh Solanki said, Sainik Schools emerged in India as the feeder institutions of Defence to serve the motherland. He said this school was amongst the first in the galaxy of Sainik Schools set up with the objective of preparing students academically, physically and mentally for entry into Armed Forces.
Congratulating all those who have been associated with the school for working with commitment and imparting education of a high standard to its students who belongs to various sections of society, Prof. Solanki, said the school has been doing the yeomen services by inculcating qualities such as self-belief, self-dependent, sound character, team spirit, dedication to purpose, a patriotic outlook and the desire to serve the country and above all helps them to develop Holistic approach towards their life to enable them to join Armed Forces.
Speaking on the occasion the Governor said that education is the foundation for all growth and development. He said in today’s context, education should teach about the different aspects of human history , in a manner to make students aware of their social and cultural milieu, so that they can contribute meaningfully to society .It should acquaint them with the marvels of Science and technology , with its immense capacity to transform human lives , with a view to encourage them to develop a scientific temper .
Describing students future of the nation, the Governor said that he was confident that many of you, in the tradition of Sainik Schools , would join the Armed Forces of the nation, of whom we are immensely proud of ,for their valour, courage and for the distinguished service they render in defending the boarders of the country.
Appreciating the achievements of the school, Prof. Solanki said the Sainik School Kapurthala has a glorious past with a commendable record of producing more than 750 distinguished officers for the Armed Forces. He said its alumni have risen to senior ranks and have brought laurels for their outstanding achievements in variegated fields. He said that he was sure that with strong commitment of the school administration, dedicated efforts of staff and hard work put in by the cadets, the school would scale greater heights of success in the years to come.
Prominent amongst others present on the occasion included, Principal, Group Capt. Shakti Sharma, Vice Principal, Lt. Col. Smita Misra and Administrative Officer, Lt. Cdr Amit Kumar Dutt.
