Modi government’s historic decision on MSP a big relief for farmers: Tarun Chugh
Chandigarh, July 4, 2018: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has hailed the historic decision of Modi government regarding 50 percent profit over the cost of production of crops to farmers of the country. Tarun Chugh, the national general secretary of the party welcomed the decision made today by the Union Cabinet in its meeting held in the national capital today under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Chugh said a steep hike has been announced in the MSP of 14 ‘Kharif’ crops today which would come as a big relief to the peasantry, He said the Rs.200 hike in the MSP of paddy would definitely boost the farming sector as 12 crore farmers were likely to benefit by this announcement. The BJP leader said that by announcing 70 to 99 percent hike in the MSP of Moong, Arhar, Jawar, Bajra, Peanut, Cotton, Sunflower etc. the Union Cabinet has provided much needed relief to the farmers who were till now facing huge financial crunch. Terming Prime Minister Modi as friend of farmers, Chugh said the NDA government has taken several measures for the welfare of agriculture sector. He said Crop Insurance, Soil Health Card and several other new and innovative initiatives were launched by the Prime Minister. Chugh claimed that the Congress and Congress-led governments have not been fair with the farmers of the country and had in fact discriminated against them. He said while the Congress always tried to take political mileage out of the miseries of farmers, Prime Minister Modi’s vision was to make the peasantry self-sufficient and to encourage them not to only grow more but grow quality crops. He said that the farmers of the country were not ‘mere vote bank’ as considered and exploited by Congress and various other political parties but were the backbone of the country. Chugh said Prime Minister Modi had fulfilled his promises made to farmers, the poor, the backward class, dalits and labourers and would continue to take bold steps in the interest of the downtrodden. Thanking Prime Minister Modi for this historic decision, Chugh said the farmers as well as other people of the country trust the vision and policies of the Prime Minister as he has not only brought in innovative ideas to take the country forward in each and every field but also honoured the promises made to people.
