Mittal thanks Punjab Government to make Punjab a Power Surplus State

Chandigarh, April 1, 2015: Punjab Industries and Commerce Minister Madan Mohan Mittal today felicitated Punjab Government for making Punjab a power surplus state. 

The Minister has pleaded the case of the industry and has recommended to the Punjab government that the dispensation given for the supply of power at a concession up to Rs.1.50 per unit during 8 night hours which has since been discontinued is unjustified since Punjab is a power surplus state and in view of the changed circumstances the concession should be continued forthwith. He has also pleaded that this dispensation may be done for the whole of the year instead of 6 months in the previous year. The Minister has strongly pleaded the case of the industry especially for dual tariff since it was a solemn commitment made by both the SAD-BJP alliance to give this concession once we are a power surplus state.
