Minnelide, a novel therapy against pancreatic cancer

Ludhiana, April 1, 2016: The Society of Advancement for Academics, Sports and Cultural activities, College of Basic Sciences and Humanities, organized a lecture on 'Minnelide, a novel therapy against pancreatic cancer: Bench to bedside and back to bench ‘by an alumnus of Ist batch (1970) of B. Sc. Hons programme in Biochemistry, Dr Ashok K Saluja from Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, University of Miami, USA.

Dr Saluja discussed the overproduction of HSP70 in Pancreatic cancer which is a very common disease in humans. His group has synthesized a water-soluble pro-drug of triptolide, Minnelide that has shown tremendous promise in preclinical studies.

The lecture was attended by Doctors of different medical institutes of Ludhiana, faculty and students of PAU and GADVASU and alumni of Biochemistry and Chemistry settled in Ludhiana, USA and Australia.

Dr P K Khanna, Registrar PAU, was the chief guest on this occasion. Dr GK Sangha, Dean COBSc&H formally welcomed and introduced the speaker.
