Ludhiana, February 9, 2015: Members of Arya College Teachers Unit observe dharna in college campus from 11.30 a.m.to 1 p.m.in support of their long pending demands.

The demand included arrears and due grades of the unaided teachers, enhancement of the infrastructure/facilities in the departmental offices, the issue of reconstituting various academic/administrative committees and responsibilities so as to redress the imbalances already existing in these and immediate release of ADA installment @10 % (letter from the DPI colleges regarding the  same has already received in the college in the month of November 2014).

Prof. Devinder Joshi, President ACTU informed the members about the various steps taken regarding the redrassal of demands through parleys with the administration. He said with anguish that all the efforts have not yielded any positive results and that we have been forced to resort   to the protest. Today’s dharna is the beginning of this protest. He further said if the administration still failed to respond favorably, the agitation will be suitably stepped up.

Prof. Devinder Joshi said that the discontentment among the members the Arya College Teachers Union and the Non-Teaching Employees Union was visible from the fact that the Non-Teaching Employees Union is supporting the protest of Arya College Teachers Union, and their members headed by their president Rajiv Bhasin and Secretary Ashwani Thakur have come to join the dharna of ACTU and assure their support to the demands. Rajiv Bhasin and Ashwani Thakur also addressed the members sitting on dharna and shared their views.

Prof. Praveen Sharma, Secretary of ACTU and Prof. P S Bhogal, Vice President of the Union also addressed the members of Teaching and non teaching employees and share their anguish with members they also appealed to the administration to pay heed to their long pending demands so that the working environment of the institution is maintained.
