Chandigarh, November 24, 2015: The Punjab Government has appointed 3 members to the Punjab State Commission for Minorities. The Minorities Cell of the Ministry of Home Affairs & Justice has issued a notification in this regard.
Disclosing this, an official spokesman said that Mr.Yaqub Masih from Christian, Mr.Sanjeev Jain from Jain and Mr.Abdul Shakur Mangat from the Muslim community have been appointed as members. According to the spokesperson, as per the Punjab State Commission for Minorities Act, 2012, the tenure of appointees would be of 3 years or until the member attains the age of 70 years. The spokesman also divulged that the including the Chairman Mr.Munawar Masih, the number of office bearers of the commission has now come to four.
