Jalandhar, May 20, 2016: DAV Institute of Engineering & Technology, Jalandhar organised a two day 3rd DAV National Congress on Science, Technology, Engineering, Humanities & Management (STEHM-2016) “Transforming India into a Knowledge Economy” on Friday. The thrust areas of the conference are Digital India, Make in India, Smart Cities and Skill India.
The Congress has received over-whelming response as more than 400 delegates registered for this mega academic event from length and breadth of the country. The congress focused on highlighting Government of India’s initiative to have all inclusive growth to take the nation forward on the path of growth and development. Through discussions and major thrust areas it emphasized that India is an emerging market where we need skilled manpower to produce specialized things. STEHM-16 highlighted that it is budding technocrats and managers who can lead the teeming and make India a production hub and realize the dream of make in India.
Dr. Sonia Chawla, Convener of the congress welcomed the chief guest, delegates, guests and participants present on the occasion. She threw light on 9 tracks of 2 day national congress which included conferences on Physical Sciences, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering and Application, Futuristic Computing and Application, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, English literature of 20th and 21st Century and Business Administration.
Dr. Manoj Kumar, Principal, DAVIET, gave warm welcome to elite gathering of dignitaries and distinguished guests present on the occasion. He threw light on the thrust areas of the conference by stating that we should keep pace with technology. Further, he stated that educational institutes should empower the students with relevant technical skills apart from education. He said that our Prime Minister Sh. Modi has given us a new identity in the world. He described that ‘make in India’ will be successful if people of the country are skilled.
Mr. Jagat Shah, Founder and CEO, Global Networks, in his presentation, threw light on the different projects of India for make in India and smart cities. He focused on global market demand, sustainability in future along with small & medium enterprises. He focused on different aspects of digital India as well. Further, he emphasized on the quality integration of Digital India, Make in India, Smart Cities and Skill India to achieve the desired goals.
Dr. Juhani, Senior Advisor, Lahti University of Applied Sciences, Finland appreciated India by highlighting its incredible potential and rich cultural heritage. He threw light on inclusion of everybody in the process of development and keeping them satisfied and committed. He discussed some unwanted results of development like pollution, logistic problems, general unhappiness, poor living conditions, increasing poverty and so on. He emphasised the need to train people to become thinkers rather than bureaucrats for making India. He focused on time management to be successful entrepreneurs.
Mr. Mahesh Munjal, Director, Majestic Auto Ltd discussed the Indian market trends of different years. He threw light on developing skills for growth and development. He focused to inculcate new habits for growth.
The highlight of the inaugural session was the panel discussion on the topic “Make in India: Reinventing skilling India.” Dr. Juhani Nileminen, Senior Advisor, Lahti University of Applied Sciences, Finland, Mr. Mahesh Munjal, Managing Director, Majestic Auto Ltd., Ms. Kamna Raj Aggarwal, Pat chairperson CII Punjab State Council, Mr. Shadan Zed Khan, Sr. Divisional Security commissioner, Railway Protection Force and Mr. Jagat Singh were the panellists. Mr. Deepak Vohra, special Advisor to Prime Minister of Lesotho & Guinea-Bissau was the session Moderator. The panel discussion concluded on the note that initiatives like Make in India, Skill India, Digital India and Smart Cities can surely transform the fortunes of India.
