Ludhiana News- CPI district unit organises Satyagrah

Communist Party of India (CPI), Ludhiana district unit organising a Satyagrah on Thursday against the anti people policies of the Central and State government.

Ludhiana, October 3, 2013: On a nationwide call given by the Communist Party of India (CPI), the district unit of the party organised a Satyagrah today against the anti people policies of the Central and State government.

Hundreds of men and women activists of the party held a rally at the statue of Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha at Bhai Bala Chowk, Ludhiana and later on marched in a procession to the Deputy Commissioner office where they courted arrest.

Addressing the gathering Kartar Singh Bowani– District Secretary said that the UPA 2 has completely sold out the nation to the foreign multinationals. As a result of these policies the country is now heading towards an economic emergency. Devaluation of rupee to such a low level and coming down of the growth to just 4.4 has proven complete failure of the government’s economic policies. Price rise of essential commodities has forced the common man to cut down its daily budget on food. This will further lead to the already existing high percentage of malnutrition in the country. The rampant corruption at the centre has proven hollowness of the government.

Dr Arun Mitra, Assistant Secretary of the district unit warned that the failure of the government to meet people’s demands has given space to the communal and castiest forces.  Communal riots in Muzaffarnagar have thoroughly exposed the BJP and the state government of Akhilesh Yadav for their petty ambitions to hold power by splitting the society on communal lines. Paying homage to the victims he demanded immediate stern steps to identify and punish those responsible for the communal carnage. BJP approach to put forward Narinder Modi as the fore runner in the electoral battle to Parliament is a very dangerous move as Modi being anti minorities is responsible for killing of over 3000 innocent people in Gujarat.

DP Maur – Assistant Secretary said that law and order problem in the state is very grave. Land mafia, sand mafia, transport mafia, cable mafia and the drug mafia are ruling freely. Democratic norms are being flouted by the government. Those demanding justice and their rights are being beaten.

Ramesh Rattan –City Secretary demanded that the poor above the age of 60 should be given pension of Rs.3,000 per month. Workers should be given Rs.10,000 as minimum wage, regularization of contract workers, effective steps to curb violence against women, ensure free quality health and education, acceptable remuneration to the farmers for the their produce, check on the sale of drugs, to take back property tax and enhanced electricity bills, jobs for the unemployed youth.

Others who addressed include OP Mehta, Gulzar Goria, Gurnam Gill, Mewa Singh, Bharpoor Singh, Surinder Jalaldiwal, Gurnam Sidhu, Vijay Kumar, Kewal Singh, Manjeet Singh Boota, Randhir Singh, Ram Singh, Kameshwar, Kuldeep Singh Binder, Surinder Sachdeva, Feroze Master.
