Ludhiana News- DMCH organises NZAPSICON conference

Ludhiana, September 7, 2013: Department of Plastic Surgery today organised a two-day conference of North Zone Association of Plastic Surgeons of India and Live Workshops on FUE Hair Transplant and Lasers in Post Burn/Acne Scars.

The conference was formally inaugurated by Vice-President of DMCH Managing Society Amrit Nagpal and Secretary - Prem Kumar Gupta.

In his welcome address Dr. Daljit Singh , Principal emphasized the need of reconstructive plastic surgery in trauma cases besides the congenital deformities like cleft lip , hypospadias , etc. Dr Sanjeev Uppal delivered the inaugural address and told that DMC & Hospital has started the cosmetic surgery procedures like FUE Hair Transplant, Fat Injections, Lasers and body contouring.

Dr Rajesh Rajput from Mumbai conducted Live Workshop on FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) Hair Transplant. During the workshop, Dr Rajput informed that Hair loss is a plague affecting nearly 80% of men, even those who had a hair transplant. Follicular Unit Extraction and Transplant is a procedure where hair are transplanted from the permanent zone to the bald or balding areas of the scalp. Dr RB Ahuja , Head of Plastic Surgery at  Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi presented Dr RL Manchanda Oration. He spoke on ‘Reviewing surgical options for palatal fistula to position them in armamentarium’

The guest speakers during the conference were Dr Lokesh Kumar from Apollo Hospital, New Delhi and Dr Lalit Makhija from RML Hospital, New Delhi who spoke on ‘Gynaecomastia’ and ‘Perforator Flaps in Lower leg & Foot’ respectively.Dr Rakesh Khazanchi from Medanta Mediciti,Gurgaon elaborated on the topic ‘Breast Augmentation’ and Dr Mahesh Mangat from SGRH,New Delhi spoke on ‘Tissue expansion’

The first day of the conference had scientific sessions on ‘Intra Oral Reconstruction with PIMMC & DP Flap by Dr Adil Hafeez Wani from Srinagar and ‘Orbital Reconstruction’ by Dr Arun Goel from MAMC, New Delhi. Other topics include ‘Perpheral Vascular Injury-Protocol’ by Dr.Sanjeev Uppal from DMCH and ‘Forehead Flap-Revisted’ by Dr Karoon Aggarwal from VMMC, New Delhi.

The post-lunch scientific sessions include discussions on ‘Hand Re-implantation’ by Dr Ravi Mahajan from Amritsar and ‘Bat Ear Correction’ by Dr Lokesh Kumar from New Delhi. Dr Puneet Pasricha from Jalandhar spoke on ‘Modification in Cleft Lip Repair’ and Dr Rajinder Mittal of DMCH elaborated on ‘Infection Control in Burns ICU’
