Ludhiana Breaking News: Holstein-Friesian emerged as winner at International Dairy and Agri Expo

The closing ceremony of International Dairy and Agri Expo takes place at Jagraon in Ludhiana district on Monday.

Jagraon/Ludhiana, December 8, 2014: The closing ceremony of the three day expo was magnificent with Gulzar Singh Ranike, Minister, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries & Dairy Development Board, Punjab Charanjit Singh Brar, OSD Deputy CM, Mandpreet Singh Ayali, S.R. Kler, MLA Jagraon, Inderjit Singh, Director Dairy Board and H.S.Sandha, Director, Animal Husbandry gracing the occasion with his esteemed presence. He congratulated PDFA for a successful show and felicitated the winners of different competitions.
Speaking on the occasion Gulzar Singh Ranike – Minister, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries & Dairy Development Board said, “We will launch Breed Act so that we can stop wrong/ duplicate semen usage. It will be launched within one month. Also, PDFA is emerging as a new vision in Punjab and helping not only new farmers to develop dairy business but also to existing dairy farmers by providing them technical and practical knowledge about dairy farming.“
Contended with the success of their endeavor Daljit Singh, President, PDFA said, “It’s an honour to have Gulzar Singh Ranike – Minister, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries & Dairy Development Board at the event. We are pleased with the whole hearted participation of farmers, technical experts and prominent companies to help make this event a tremendous success. Our prime motive is to bring another white revolution in the country to place India prominently on the World map for clean milk production. We will continue our endeavor to bring forth newer opportunities to boost entrepreneurship in the dairy farming business.”
The three day Expo saw a host of activities been conducted. Farmers and breeders participated in milking competitions and breeding competitions. Breeds including Holstein-Friesian, Jersey, Neele Ravi buffaloes and Murrah competed on the quality of their milk. In the show over 850 head were displayed and judged. Sadarpura Breeding Farm, Sadarpura with Holestein-Friesian won the competition with 58.3 litres of milk/day.
A competition on innovation in dairy farming was also conducted to felicitate the most innovative farmer. Amandeep Singh from Nawanshehar became the best farmer for making best sillage in dairy farming.
Technical seminars were organised to equip the farmers with requisite know-how to be successful in the commercial dairy farming. Nright from ew nutrition educated the farmers about the “Methods to modulate Rumen Microflora for improving Lactating animal Health and Productivity”
There was also an Exhibition on Animal Husbandry, Breeding, Production, Nutrition, Product technology, Health Management and Disease control in dairy animals and Dairy Equipment. Prominent companies like Cargill, New Holland, Pfizer, Sonalika, Delaval, Escorts, Claas, PDS, Olmix, Cidlines and Gea amongst others showcased best of their products to facilitate farmers to reap maximum benefits from their commercial dairy farming business and in agriculture. Financial institutions like IDBI, Andhra bank and Co-operative bank also put up stalls to help the farmers avail easy loans to expand their commercial dairy business.
