Jalandhar, February 8, 2015: Lovely Professional University hosts T-20 Invitational School Cricket Tournament annually to promote cricket at grass root level.  As an under-19 T-20 format cricket tournament, LPU organised 8-day tournament for 27 knock out matches at two pitches of LPU Sports Stadium. More than 400 school cricketers from top 27 schools of Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh & Punjab participated. Players displayed great cricketing action as many state and national under-14, 16 & 19 players, who have played under School Games Federation of India, were also representing different teams. All LPU cricket lovers enjoyed their batting, fielding, bowling & catches’ actions. The winner, first runner up & second runner up teams were also honoured with cash prizes of Rs 31,000, Rs 21,000 & Rs 11,000 respectively. NIS qualified officials looked after the tournament.
Encouraging young cricketers, LPU Pro-Chancellor Rashmi Mittal said “We want Indian youth should develop their sports potentialities along with their academic abilities. Through this organisation, our aim is to develop sports skills among young talented students right from the initial level.”
Final Results: CT Public School, Jalandhar (First); Mount Carmel School, Chandigarh (Second); DAV Sr. Sec. School, Hoshiarpur (Third). For First Semi Final match, Mount Carmel School Chandigarh played against DAV Sr Sec. School, Hoshiarpur, in which Mount Carmel School won by 5 Wickets. The other semi final was played between CT Public School Jalandhar and Patiala Public School, Patiala, which was won by CT Public School by 9 wickets. For third place DAV Sr Sec School, Hoshiarpur defeated Patiala Public School, Patiala.
