LOK SABHA ELECTIONS 2019: “CHUNAV PATHSHALA” TO BE ORGANISED IN ALL POLLING STATIONS ON MARCH 2 & 3
Ludhiana, February 28, 2019: To educate the voters about the importance of getting registered as voters and exercising the right to vote, the Election Commission of India would be organising “Chunav Pathshala” programme at all Polling Stations of district Ludhiana on March 2 & 3, 2019. To make it a regular feature, this “Chunav Pathshala” would be organised on every first Saturday of the month. While providing further information, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Jagraon)-cum-Nodal Officer SVEEP activities, Mrs Neeru Katyal Gupta said that in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the Election Commission of India is stressing on registering every single eligible person as a voter and to increase the voting percentage. She informed that for the “Chunav Pathshala” programme, every Block Level Officer (BLO) has been nominated as Nodal Officer. She said that although people from all age groups can participate in the “Chunav Pathshala”, but special emphasis would be given to ensure participation of prospective voters falling in the age group of 14-17 years (who do not attend school etc). She informed that participation of newly registered voters, women, physically challenged, senior citizens, and people of different sections of the society would be ensured. She said that along with creating awareness, people can also get themselves registered as voters through this programme. Mrs Neeru Katyal Gupta informed that the “Chunav Pathshala” programme would also be established at school, college, organisation level. She appealed to people to attend this programme in large numbers.
