Staff and students of Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar on Monday celebrate the festival of Lohri.
Jalandhar, January 13, 2015: Staff and students at Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar on Monday celebrated the festival of Lohri in the college campus. Celebrated along Punjabi tradition the event included lighting of Lohri bonfire along with folk presentations such as Bhangra, gidha, and lokgeet by the students.
Speaking on the occasion, the College Principal Dr. G.S. Samra said that it was the need of the hour to preserve our rich cultural heritage and to make young generation aware of it. He stressed that such events should be used to spread awareness against social evils such as female foeticide.
Stage on the occasion was conducted by Dr. Rashpal Sandhu Dean Cultural affairs of the college.
