Liver Check up camp at Dhingra Gastroenterology Clinic

Ludhiana, September 9, 2018: A specialist liver disease assessment and check up camp was organised at Dhingra Gastroenterology Clinic at Salem Tabri, Ludhiana. Dr Jasmeet Singh Dhingra, Consultant, SPS Hospital, Ludhiana did a detailed examination and check up for more than 150 patients at this camp. All needful blood tests, liver function and renal function tests, blood sugar including check for Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and Fibroscan were done. The objective of the camp was to screen the general public for Fatty liver, Hepatitis Band Hepatitis C which increases the risk of morbid hepatic illness and cancer.
Dr Jasmeet told that the major causes of liver cirrhosis were Hepatitis B and C and alcohol abuse in pat but now fatty liver disease has become rampant. The incidence of diabetes and fatty liver disease together is deadly. In the upcoming decade, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease will supersede alcohol as the most common cause of liver damage, he said. A short seminar was organised to counsel the younger urban generation to avoid drugs and alcoholand maintain good eating habits with weight control so as to prevent major liver related illnesses. Free medicines were provided to all patients. In this screeningassessment approx. 10% patients were found to have Hepatitis C infection and treatment counselling was done.
