Liquor vends auction fetches Rs 6096140502 in Ludhiana District

Ludhiana, March 27, 2016: The auction of a total 665 liquor vends, both Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and country made, for the financial year 2016-17 has fetched revenue of Rs 6096140502 in Ludhiana district. The auction was held under the supervision of Excise & Taxation Commissioner Rajat Agarwal.
Agarwal told the media persons that the revenue has been generated against a target of collecting Rs 5440 crore. As such, revenue of Rs 400 crore more has been yielded for the fiscal 2016-17 as compared to that of in the last fiscal.
Further, he revealed that revenue of Rs 150 crore has been generated as application fee in Punjab.
Deputy Commissioner, Ludhiana Ravi Bhagat was among those present on the occasion.
It may be recalled here that a total of 744 liquor vends of Ludhiana district were auctioned for the year 2015-16 for a whopping Rs 7,64,44,46,505, which was Rs 53,39,21,322 (7.51%) more than 2014-15. In 2014-15, the auction of 744 liquor vends was held for Rs 7,11,05,25,183.
