Ludhiana, July 14, 2016: Veteran freedom fighter, peace activist and senior leader of the Communist Party of India (CPI) Com Bharat Prakash passed away at the age of 95 on July 13. He was associated with the World Peace Council and All India Peace and Solidarity Organisation (AIPSO).
During the British period he struggle hard for the freedom of the country. After independence he joined the CPI and remained as member of the national council of the party. His main work of activity was focused on nuclear disarmament and peaceful co-existence. He organised several conference in Punjab on these issues. He participated in many national and international events for peace and disarmament. Besides this he waged many struggles for the rights of the peasants and the agriculture labour. His body was cremated at his native place Khanna. Many national and state leaders of the CPI were present.
