KMV’s Green Campus Initiative under Swachh Bharath Abhiyaan
Plantation Drive held at College Campus Jalandhar, December 10, 2018: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya - The Heritage and Autonomous Institution, Jalandhar initiated Green Campus drive under Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan, a campaign launched by the Prime Minister, Mr.Narendra Modi. The drive was organized by the Department of Political Science of KMV. Under this drive, another cleanliness initiative has been started to enhance ecosystem management, low carbon institutions, resource efficiency, minimum waste and pollution. This drive is linked to environment management system and enhancing student’s engagement and their participation not only in this drive but to also prepare them for their public contribution in the time to come. Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi along with Swachatta Soldiers (Student Volunteers) planted 30 saplings of ''Amaltas'' plant and 30 other samplings of various plants in KMV campus. The mission of this activity was to make KMV a regenerative organization within the context of the local bioregion. Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that this type of activities play a very important role in creating an awareness among the people about the various ecological issues and making the young generation realize their duties toward their environment. She also lauded the efforts made by the students as well the teachers for this program as they have set up a benchmark for other institutions in the country for making their campus 'Clean and Green'. Principal also congratulated Ms. Ashman Sahni, Dr. Iqbal Singh and Mrs Ramanpreet Kaur for the successful organization of this program.
