Students of KMV, Jalandhar during Self-Defence Classes.
Jalandhar, November 17, 2015: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya-The Heritage Institution, Jalandhar under the aegis of Women Studies Centre, organised short term course in self-defence techniques to boost confidence among students and to make them capable to fight back during confrontational circumstances. Ms. Rama Sharma, a well known professional in self defence techniques with over 20 years experience imparted training to the students in the college premises. Nearly 150 students joined this course and participated enthusiastically. Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi, Director Women Studies Centre, motivated the students to actively participate in all such events that strengthen and sensitize the girls towards gender related issues. Madam, Principal averred that self defence is the need of the hour. KMV strives for holistic development of the students. It not only educates but also empowers the young girls. She also congratulated Mrs. Amanpreet, Coordinator Women Studies Centre for conducting the week long course. It is worth a mention here that self defence courses are a regular feature here at KMV and all outgoing students are given training for self defence.
