Education Minister Orders To Prepare District Level Training Program For English Teachers In 10 Days

Education Minister of Punjab Dr Daljeet Singh Cheema on Friday holding a meeting of the core group prepared to train the English teachers at the DGSE office, SAS Nagar.

SAS Nagar, June 26, 2015: Education Minister of Punjab Dr Daljeet Singh Cheema today issued instructions to prepare a detailed training program for English teacher in 10 days besides seeking in the report on result of Punjabi subject in state run schools till August 3.

Today in a meeting of the core group prepared to train the English teachers at the DGSE office, Dr.Cheema has made it clear that there would be zero tolerance for poor results in any stream. He said that the department would more focused on English and Punjabi subjects and all English teachers would be trained at district level by the subject experts. Besides that in case of Punjabi subject, a detailed report would also be prepared regarding the poor performance of schools in Punjabi subject.

He also asked to prepare committees comprising heads of District Institutes of teachers training, English lecturer and concerned DEOs and a meeting would be held on July 6 in this regard in which all concerned officials would have to be present. He also informed that after the detailed discussion a blue print would be prepared about the training, which would be announced on the same day at Chandigarh.

Taking a serious note of the poor performance of students in mother tongue, the Minister said that it was a matter of regret that 35 thousand candidates were failed to clear the exam in 10th class. He also ordered to set the committees to strengthen the study of Punjabi in schools. These committees would visit all schools under their concerned district and would present a report about the worst performers in the district. He said that a detailed report would be prepared on the basis of recommendation after evaluating the situation at grass root level about the causes of student’s poor show in Punjabi. The Minister has also announced that he would personally evaluate the reports of all districts on august 10.

The prominent amongst present in the meeting included Principal secretry C. Raul, DGSE Pardeep Kumar, DPI Balbir Singh Dhol, Director SCERT Mrs. Pankaj Sharma, Deputy state project Director Dr. Ginni Duggal , heads of training institutes and English lecturers.
