Minister Jupally Krishna Rao seen felicitating Prof V.Ramgopal Rao on being appointed as Director of IIT Delhi.

Hyderabad, April 10, 2016: Minister Jupally Krishna Rao facilitates Prof. V. Ramgopal Rao on his being elevated as Director of IIT, Delhi. He showered praise on him at a felicitation held at Taj Banajara on Sunday afternoon, Jupally said Prof Rao, who from modest journey from Govt Upper Primary School in Kolhapur Town in Mahboobnagar District to countless International Platforms.

What it matters the most is what do you with what you have at your own disposal. A Telugu man, Prof. Rao who until recently worked at Prof of IIT at Mumbai is now elevated and transferred as Director of IIT at New Delhi.

Speaking on the occasion responding to the felicitation, Prof. Rao said that there were 200 faculty positions vacant in IIT Bombay alone and 5000 vacancies across all IITs in the country. Speaking further he observed that foreign faculty also must be given an opportunity to teach in IITs for improving Global ranking of IITs. My aim is to develop one company every year incubated by IIT Delhi, he said

The Felicitation was organized jointly by IIT Delhi Association of Hyderabad Chapter and KITS Warangal Alumni Association (82-86 Batch). Namashivaya R of KITS Warangala Alumni Association and Sudhkar Gande of IIT Delhi Associaton of Hyd Chapter were also graced the felicitation.

Dr. Rao has over 400 publications in the area of Electron Devices & Nano electronics in refereed international journals and conference proceedings and is an inventor on 32 patents (including 13 issued US patents) and patent applications, with many of his patents licensed to industries for commercialization. He is also a co-founder of the company NanoSniff Technologies Pvt. Ltd. at IIT Bombay which is developing products in the area of Nanotechnology.

A Telugu man who hails from humble background reached such a position by sheer hardwork and talent observed many speakers, friends, colleagues, alumni member s of both the associations who spoke on the occasion.

Dr. V. Ramgopal Raois a P. K. Kelkar Chair Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and the Chief Investigator for the Centre of Excellence in Nano electronics project at IIT Bombay.

Prof Ramgopal Rao hails from a small town of Kollahpur in Mahabubnager district in Telangana studied upto inter in Telugu medium in a Govt Junior College and moved to KITS Warangal and completed his engineering and thereafter did his M Tech from IIT Bombay. Then did his Ph.D from Germany and on a call from IIT Bombay joined their faculty.

Prof Ramgopal Rao specializes in Nano Technology and used his research for Indian applications like, in developing Rs.100/- worth diagnostic test for predicting heart attack, also in agricultural activity like finding devises for Sensoring soil moisture that helps farmers in increasing productivity by 30% to 130%.

Prof Rao developed several patented products thru this research and want to continue to do so at IIT Delhi where is taking over from April 13th 2016 as Director. He wants to use most of the RS.900crore of IIT Delhi's budget towards prototype developing research.
