Jalandhar bags over all trophy by getting 24 points of Punjab State Women Games

Ludhiana, November 1, 2014: Jalandhar bagged over all trophy by getting 24 points of Punjab State Women Games concluded at Guru Nanak Stadium, here today. Patiala got 21 points and secured second place where as host Ludhiana has to satisfy with third place by getting 19 points. Sharanjit Singh Dhillon, Minister for Irrigation, Punjab was the Chief Guest and he gave away prizes to the winners. 

Earlier, Tejinder Singh Dhaliwal, Director Sports, Punjab made warm welcome of the Chief Guest and other distinguished guest present on the occasion. Dhillon informed that Punjab Government is doing wonders for the promotion of sports in the rural areas of the state and he encouraged the participants towards sports Rupinder Singh, Assistant Director Sports, Punjab made vote of thanks.

Bathinda won Athletics team championships with 32 points, Patiala got second place with 32 points and Jalandhar got third place with 23 points. In 200m finals Manpreet Kaur of Patialawon gold clocking 24.32sec., Sukhwinder Kaur of Jalandhar won silver in 25.32sec and Khushwinder Kaur of Bathinda got bronze in 26.11sec. In 1500m Sharanjit Kaur of Gurdaspur won gold clocking 4:45.93mnts, Gurpreet Kaur of Tarn Taran won silver in 4:46.39mnts and Jyoti Saini of Hoshiarpur got bronze in 4:48.58mnts.In Javelin Throw gold medal won by Prabhdeep Kaur of Mohali with 36.27m, Amandeep Kaur of Patiala won silver with 35.21m and Balwinder Kaur of Ludhiana got bronze with 33.90m. In 4x400m Relay Patiala won gold in 4:02.13mnts, Sangrur won silver in 4:08.90mnts and Ludhiana got bronze in 4:12.24mnts.

In Table Tennis final match Roop Nagar outplayed Amritsar 3-0 for the gold and Patiala beat Ludhiana 3-0 for the bronze.

Amritsar won gold in Kabaddi by defeating Ropar 19-13 where as Ferozepur got bronze who defeated Jalandhar 15-12.

Jalandhar outplayed Patiala 4-1 in the hockey final match and Amritsar won bronze medal by defeating Mukatsar Sahib 5-2 in a penalty shootout.

Jalandhar defeated Sangrur in an attractive final match of Badminton 2-1 and won gold where as Ludhiana and Jalandhar were declared third jointly.

Host Ludhiana won gold in Basketball by defeating Jalandhar 59-52 and Patiala won bronze by defeating Kapurthala 65-37.

Roop Nagar won gold in Handball by defeating Luhdiana 18-13 where as Tarn Taran beat Ferozepur 22-20 for the bronze medal.

Sangrur won gold by defeating Jalandhar in an one sided final match of Volleyball 3-0 where as Mansa outplayed Ludhiana 3-0 for the bronze.

In Kho-Kho final match Sangrur outclassed Jalandhar 11-4 and won the gold medal and host Ludhiana got bronze medal by defeating Patiala 6-4.

In Swimming Ludhiana won team championships with 67 points, Sangrur won silver with 26 points and Jalandhar got bronze with 11 points. 

In Lawn Tennis Patiala won gold by defeating Amritsar 2-0, whereas Ludhiana beat Bathinda 2-0 for the bronze.

In Gymnastics team Championship won by Patiala with 186.05, Gurdaspur won Silver with 176.70 and Bathinda got bronze with 154.80. Simran Kaur of Gurdaspur was declared best all round Gymnast with 40.35, Naginder Kaur also from Gurdaspur got second Palace with 40.05 and Pankhurhi Rathore of Patiala got Third Palace with 38.45.
