Jalandhar, March 23, 2016: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar organised a press conference regarding the International Convention on Youth Concerns and Challenges ICYC-2016 on March 25-26, 2016. It is note-worthy to mention here that this particular convention is a signature event to mark 130 glorious years of KMV’s Service to the youth. Addressing the journalists from different media houses Principal of the college Prof.Atima Sharma Dwivedi elaborated that this multidisciplinary Convention is on a very pertinent topic of global concern. Youth represent the most dynamic segment of the population and are the future of the nations. Young people are active drivers of change and progress in all societies. We must also address the issues from the perspective of young people. This Convention is driven by the motive to reach levels of understanding and common grounds with the new generations. It will give an apt platform for expression and comprehension to Youth concerns and challenges.
It will be a matter of singular honour to host eminent scholars and savants from 11 countries and 21 states of India. Distinguished luminaries of international standing from USA, Hungary, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, UAE, Bhutan, Rwanda, Zambia and Sri Lanka will grace the Convention.

Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Hungary Prof. Yasushi Watanabe Faculty of Environment and Information Studies, Keio University, Japan, Dr. Shruti Chabbra Columbia University, USA, Dr. Janos Gordon Gyori, Associte Prof., Centre for Intercultural Psychology and Education, Eotvos Lorand University Budapest, Hungary, Dr. Rashmi Sahi , HOD English, St. Stephan’s College, Hong Kong, Dr. Koh Kheng Lian Emeritus Prof. Faculty of Law, National University of Singapore, Maj. We have a Video-Conferencing Session too. Dr. S.M. Gomes from Bhutan will be connecting to all present for the session through video conferencing.
Dr. R.S. Bawa, Vice Chancellor, Chandigarh University will be the Chief Guest and Prof. R.K. Mahajan, Dean, College Development Council, GNDU, Amritsar and Prof. Yasushi Watanabe, Keio University, Japan will be the Guests of Honour for the inaugural session on March 25, 2016 at 10:00 am. The presidential remarks will be made by Mr. Alok Sondhi, General Secretary, Arya Shiksha Mandal and Prof. John Battaglino , Dean Students, Boston University will deliver the key-note address. Lt. Gen. J.S. Cheema VSM Corps Commander HQ II Corps will be the Chief Guest and Prof. Sharanjit Singh Dhillon , Registrar, GNDU, Amritsar and Dr. Janos Gordon Gyori from Hungary will be the Guests of Honour for the Valedictory Session to be organised on Mar 26, 2016 at 5:00pm
Further she said that KMV has already registered 230 paper presenters for the Convention and the number is constantly on the rise. It is because of this overwhelming participation that paper presentations will be organised in 8 parallel venues during both the days. 700 + students have got themselves registered as delegates for this Convention and the number is still increasing. 50 of our students are also presenting papers during the Convention. This overwhelming response is indeed laudable. The exhaustive list of attendance at the Convention, of course includes leading academia, literati, scientists and media wizards from the most distinguished institutes of India. Erudite chairpersons will include Prof. Avinash Nagpal, Director, HRDC, GNDU, Amritsar, Prof. Renu Bhardwaj, (Incharge) Exams, GNDU, Amritsar, Dr. Suresh Seth, Renowned writer, Dr. Inderpal Singh, KCL Jalandhar, Dr. Paramjit Jassal, Principal, Govt. Arts & Sports College, Jalandhar and Dr. Paramjit Kaur Ghuman, Vice Principal, Govt. Arts & Sports College.
On this occasion we are also organising a Youth Forum to provide an apt platform to the youth to voice their views on various issues. Mr. Dinesh Sharma, Channel Head, Zee, (Punjab, Haryana, Himachal) has been invited to be a part of this Forum. Students from across the globe including countries like Rwanda and Zambia will also be a part of this Forum which has been specially designed for a free flow of ideas which will result in better pattern of growth and development of major part of our population.
A Cultural Eve cum Dinner will be organised on March 25, 2016 at 7:00 pm which will be a befitting attempt to give a peep to all present into our rich cultural legacy. Sh. Manoranjan Kalia, MLA and Former Minister, Punjab, Mr. Sunil Jyoti Mayor Jalandhar City and Mr. Yurinder Singh Hayer, Commissioner of Police, Jalandhar will be the Honoured Guests for the Cultural Evening. Other luminous citizens of Jalandhar and academicians will also be present on the occasion.
