Chandigarh November 30, 2016: “Elementary Particles” was the topic for interactive talk made by Professor Urjit A.Yajnik, Institute Chair Professor, Department of Physics, Indian Institute of Technology, (IIT) Bombay Mumbai on second day of Panjab University (PU) DST Inspire Camp. Professor K K Bhasin, Professor Emeritus, Department of Chemistry, PU introduced the Inspire students to the amazing discoveries in the field of chemistry. His simple style of explanation stimulated all students to ask number of queries about innovation in the field of chemistry “How can we make human life better by using chemistry?”
Interaction with Professor Urjit and Professor Bhasin was so exciting that students insisted that both mentors must join them for dinner for further scientific discussions. All mentors were saying that students have brilliant questions.
Afternoon session was hands-on laboratory sessions for meritorious students in order to give them flavor of research. Around 800+ students was divided into six major groups that were further divided into sub groups of 20-25 students for hands-on experiments at 12 science departments of PU along with visit to museum at zoology, geology and anthropology. Around sixty five imminent senior faculty mentors from Panjab University guided and interacted with students during laboratory sessions in Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Geology, Anthropology, Biochemistry, Biophysics,
Microbiology, Biotechnology, UIET, UICET & UIPS.
