Kapurthala, March 19, 2016: INNOTECH-2016- a unique program aimed at encouraging innovativeness and creativity amongst the students and teachers of professional colleges was organized jointly by PGSC and IKG PTU at Science City Kapurthala. The Tech Fest also marked the celebration of annual day of Science City. Speaking on the occasion Dr. A.K Paul, Vice Chancellor, DAV University Jalandhar said that such competitions provide an opportunity to the students to learn how to apply their existing abilities to new areas, learn many new skills and foster a spirit of scientific inquiry. The initiative to organize the tech fest is indeed commendable and in conformity of what India is gearing up for. The fest will effectively support a new national program designed to transform India into a global manufacturing hub as well.
Dr. Rajesh Grover, Director, Science City said that creativity and innovation are the two key drivers for socio-economic development of a country. The tech fest will serve as a platform for the students – especially the budding technocrats – to exhibit their professional acumen. It is in this context Science City has joined hands with Punjab Technical University to promote innovation among the students of professional colleges. Competition on display of projects and models developed by the students of the engineering colleges, polytechnic colleges and industrial training institutes has become an eagerly awaited annual feature. The competition receives an enthusiastic response from the students.
Dr. Grover further added that the Govt. of India is laying tremendous emphasis in promoting innovation in a big way. He informed that GoI has recently sanctioned a project to Science City to set up an Innovation Hub which will involve setting up an innovation gallery and also provide necessary basic facilities to the students to pursue creative and innovative hobbies/activities. A design studio will also make a part of this innovation Hub and offer creative environment to design of various objects products etc and solve design challenges.
He also thanked the public of the region for their overwhelming response as more than 35 lakh visitors have visited the Science City since its opening to the public in March 2005. Dr. Joginder Yadev Director General National Institute of Bio-Diversity and Dr.A P Singh Dean Research Innovation and consultancy was also present on this occasion.

In Software Polytechnic Category Mehar Chand Polytechnic College Jalandhar ( Project:Smart lab with remote Control ) clinched the prize .
Miscellaneous Category: Engineering : Mr. Varun from DAV Institute of Engineering & Technology Jalandhar got first prize (Project : Automated Blade Sharping Machine ), second prize has been achieved by Tajinder Singh from N.J.S.A Govt. College Kapurthala and Deepak Kumar from Khalsa College of Engineering & Managemen Amritsar stood third .
Auto Mobile (Engineering): Manpreet Singh from Anad College of Engineering and Management Kapurthala got first prize (Project: Hydrozen propelled Bike) and second prize bagged to Deepam Arora from DAV Institute of Engineering & Technology Jalandhar.
Polytechnic Category : Vishavjit Singh from Mehr Chand Polytechnic College has received first prize (Project :Alochal Detection in Smart Helm ate), second prize clinched by Jasmeet also from Mehr Chand Polytechnic (Project: Accidental Tracking System) and Mandeep Singh from Guru Nanak Dev. Polytechnic College has received third prize (Project: Electronic Folding Bike)
MECH-TRONIC (Engg) Aman Tiwari from Maharaja Agarsein University Solan stood first (Project: Levitation of water stroboscopic effect ) and second prize goes to RIEIT Rail Majra Roper (Moving Message using Mobile Control) and third prize has been achieved by Sagar Bhardwaj from DAV University (Project: Robotics)
MECH-TRONIC (Polytechnic Category) : Hardeep Sharma from Shaheed Udham Singh Polytechnic College, Tangori got first prize ( Project: Modern Electronic Traction System) and second prize goes to Mr. Bladeep Singh from Mehr Chand Polytechnic College Jalandhar (Project:wind power generator (T-Box) Rohan Rana From Thapar Polytechnic College Patiala stood third (Project: Hi-Tech farming.
In Post Graduate Category first prize won Arshdeep Singh from Shri Guru Granth Shaib world University Fategarh Shaib (Project: Helical screw Technology Lift) in MECH-TRONIC Category. Second prize also achieved by Shri Guru Granth Shaib world University Fategarh Shaib (Project: Bio Engineering Booster Machine) in Miscellaneous Category.
Result of Quiz: (Polytechnic) Davinder Singh and Harpreet Singh from GNDPC Ludhiana stood first Utam.Brijesh from Mehar c hand Polytechnic College Jalandhar got second position and Shubam Gill and Lalit from Thaper Polytechnic Patiala has won third prize.
(Engg): First prize has bagged to Ashima and Gurpartap from CT Group Jalandhar. Second prize Clinched Mr. Varun Gupta and Sandeep Singh from Daviet Jalndhar and Mr. Ajay and Nishan Singh from SUSCET Tengori stood third position.
