Innovation key to nation’s sustainable growth and competitiveness
Kapurthala, November 23, 2019: Technology offers great hope and optimism for every sector. Today technology has not only made our world small, but also made learning very easy. These were the views expressed by Ashok Mittal, Chancellor, Lovely Professional University during his address at the occasion of Science Fest -2019 held at Science City wherein more than 500 school students from all over Punjab had participated in the innovative project model competition. He added government of India has taken numerous initiatives towards strengthening the innovation ecosystem, the most important of which is the establishment of Atal Mission innovation and National Innovation Council which has the mandate to coordinate various innovation-related activities. The essence of innovation lies in creating maximum value with minimal investment using scarce resources. The events viz. Science Fest provide an appropriate platform to the contestants to display ingenuity and innovative ideas in an informal and environment. Such type of experimental activities motivate students to follow a path which will lead them to success in their professional life. Result of Science Fest-2019: Ishwar from DIPS Maqsudan Jalandhar (Water Rocket) won first prize, second prize has been achieved by Devanshi from DAV School Ludhiana (Whisper of the Cosmos) and Mr.Harshdeep Singh from Manav Sehyog School Jalandhar (Hyperloop) clinched third prize. On this occasion Dr. Neelima Jerath, Director General Science City said that innovation has become a crucial source of a nation’s sustainable growth and competitiveness amidst globalization. In the modern era, innovative and creative minds dominate since they bring desired results to make complex processes simple, easy and economical. Only innovative ideas can lead to new products, technologies, opportunities and ensure sustainable growth. PGSC has setup an innovation Hub in collaboration with National Council of Science Museum- an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India with the objective to promote innovativeness and engage the youth towards creativity. The Hub is providing facilities to nurture new ideas and help develop inquisitiveness in the young minds. This would prove to be a boon to the Society. The following participants were declared winners during the Projects/Models competition and were conferred cash awards.
