IKG PTU ZONAL YOUTH FESTIVAL 2016 INAUGURATED AT DAVIET

Jalandhar, October 21, 2016: DAVIET hosted the IKG PTU Zonal Youth Festival, 2016 with great pomp and show. The talented artists of 16 institutions affiliated to the University participated in as many as 30 events. The commitment to outperform the other contestants to win laurels for their respective colleges was visible in their spirited performances. The theme of the Zonal youth festival is “Digital India” and it is dedicated to 125TH BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF BABA SAHIB DR. BHIM RAO AMBEDKAR. In the inaugural function, a Swach Bharat pledge was taken by all the participants , faculty and dignitaries. The inaugural function started with invocation of Lord Ganesha to seek the blessings and lighting of the pious lamp of knowledge.
Dr. Manoj Kumar, Principal of the host institution welcomed the chief Guest and other dignitaries to the Zonal Youth Festival. He thanked IKG PTU to give an opportunity to DAVIET to host the event. In his address he threw light on the persona of Baba Sahib Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar and stated that he was the true messiah of the lower castes. He not only wrote the constitution of India but also lead farmers in their struggle to get their dues. Dr. Manoj Kumar also touched upon the theme of the Zonal Youth Festival i.e Digital India and highlighted that it is one of the initiatives of Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi along with Make in India and Swach Bharat to transform India into a developed nation. He also talked about the changing paradigms in education sector and stressed that students have become more tech savvy . He stated that at DAVIET we offer digital books and resources to students to enhance anytime, anyplace learning. He also shared that the Institution has adopted a village and will do its bit to transform it into a digital village. He highlighted that it is the individual who changes the system and urged upon the budding technocrats and mangers to take bigger role to make India developed and clean.
Mr. B.S Sekhon, Ex Director Youth Welfare, GNDU Amritsar and Observer of the Zonal Youth Festival, in his address that a strong extra curricular program at Institutions enables the budding artists to make a name for themselves. He expressed his optimism that some invaluable talent will be unearthed during this youth festival. He requested the participants to compete honestly and give their best in to outperform others.
The Chief Guest Dr. Satish Sharma, Director Colleges, DAVCMC encouraged all the participants to give their best in various competitions and learn from each other. He stated that we are living in times of conflict and it is through such cultural programs that we can learn the qualities of brotherhood and tolerance. He showed his conviction that quality education will empower the Indian Youth to make their presence felt at the International level. He also appreciated the fact that the youth of the nation is more aware than ever to do their bit to make India a global power. He also appreciated the achievements of DAVIET in extra curricular activities and academics. He advised all the participants to perform fairly and accept the judgment gracefully.
Various events of the day were conducted at four different venues of DAVIET simultaneously. Events that took place on the opening day of festival were Group Shabad, One Act Play, Mimicry, Indian Classical Inst. Solo (Per. & N.P), Classical Vocal Solo, Quiz Prelims and Finals, Rangoli, On the Spot Painting, Cartooning and Collage Making.
The first day of the Inter Zonal Youth Festival was attended Dr. B.B Sharma, principal DAV College Jalandhar, Dr. Ajay Sareen, Principal HMV Jalandhar, Dr. Veena Williams Principal Nursing College, Principal M.L Aeri, Principal Ravinder Sharma, Mr. B. S Sekhon, Ex Director Youth Welfare GNDU and Observer of the Zonal Youth Festival and Mr. Sumeer Sharma, Assistant Director Youth Affairs IKG PTU Jalandhar.
