IIA-LC celebrates World Habitat/Architects Day

The Indian Institute of Architects-Ludhiana Centre (IIA-LC) on Monday celebrates World Habitat/Architects Day at Ludhiana.

Ludhiana, October 6, 2014: World Habitat/Architects Day was celebrated by The Indian Institute of Architects-Ludhiana Centre (IIA-LC) in a big way for the first time in Ludhiana in history. This day is celebrated on first Monday of every October all over the World. 6th October is also the Birthday of Great Late French Architect Le Corbusier, who designed the World famous one of the beautiful/smart city of Chandigarh.
H.S. Gohalwaria, Mayor of Ludhiana Municipal Corporation (LMC) was Chief Guest in the seminar. He welcomed the idea of IIA-LC to celebrate this day and discuss smart cities in detail. Ludhiana has been shortlisted in hundred smart cities of India to be developed by present National Govt. headed by our active PM Narinder Modi.
Mayor congratulated the whole team of IIA-LC and assured that LMC will take IIA-LC members guidance from time to time for betterment of city.
Pardeep K. Aggarwal, Commissioner of LMC, was Guest of Honour liked the event and gave his expert opinion about various issues concerned with the city. He was happy to see local active and creative architect members of IIA-LC for working towards how to make Ludhiana even better then Chandigarh.
Yogesh Singla, Joint Secretary of IIA-LC welcomed the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour, speakers, architects, engineers, builders, interior designers & all for sparing their valuable time to attend the seminar.
Sanjay Goel, Chairman of IIA-LC, is also the secretary of IIA-Chandigarh-Punjab chapter, in his detailed presentation touched up all the town planning related deficiencies of Ludhiana city with solutions. The main failure Goel explained is the lack of co-ordination between more than ten agencies responsible for the development of Ludhiana city. Hence there must be single agency like Ludhiana Development Authority (LDA) rather then so many agencies including LMC/GLADA/PUDA/HOUSEFFD/PSIEC/Water Supply & Sewerage board/B&R/Public Health/irrigation etc within the city, however outside city limits multi agencies may work.
Surinder Bahga - Chairman Publication Board of IIA, Mumbai specially invited. He was very much concerned about ever increasing pollution level in Ludhiana as one of the top City in India in increasing pollution level affecting our habitat badly.
Manmohan  Khanna Chairman of  IIA  Chandigarh Punjab Chapter, was one of the main speaker explained about ever increasing slums in our metros. Betterment of slums is the theme for this year by United Nations.
Harinder Boparai, Jt. Secy. of IIA – LC explained in detail about works done by present team in last year and he was one of the master mind in suggesting to celebrate World Architects Day.
Ring Road, Airport, Bus Stand, Railway Station, Metros, Roads, Flyovers, ROBs, Elevated Roads, RUBs, Stadiums, Buddah Nallah, Sidhwan Canal, Recreational Areas, Green Areas, Water Supply, Sewerage, Rain water disposal, Electricity, use of Solar etc were discussed in detail in the seminar which are must for smart city.
