Dharamsala, September 17, 2014: Himachal cricketing body HPCA accused local MLA and Himachal Minister for Urban development Sudhir Sharma for his double standards for HPCA. Association’s spokes person-cum-PRO Sanjay Sharma said in Dharamsala on Wednesday said that on one hand the minister is giving statements in the press to extend all possible help to HPCA for organising the Indo-Caribbean ODI on October 17 in Dharamsala and one the other creating the hindrances.
Quoting examples Sanjay said, “The previous HP Government under the chief ministership of P K Dhumal laid a foundation stone for parking of hundreds of vehicles near the cricket stadium in August 2012 and Sudhir diverted a low cost housing project from another place got foundation from present CM in January 2014, so that HPCA could not use the space for parking.”
Talking to this correspondent, Sanjay said that the minister has ordered the quick repair of all roads in and around Dharamsala, but deliberately omitted the roads lead to the Cricket Stadium. He said that when on 26 October 2013 Congress government took away the control of Dharamsala cricket stadium in a single night, Sudhir Sharma addressed a press conference to take the credit.
On the statements regarding HPCA by the Congress leaders Sanjay said, “When the government has taken the issues to the court the Congress should wait for the decision of the law, and stop defaming the HPCA.”
Sanjay however welcomed Sudhir Sharma’s statement of government decision to help all possible help in organising ODI match on 17 October, and said, “It is the responsibility of any government to extend help to the organisers of any public show in concern to law and order.”
Earlier on Monday, the Himachal Pradesh government said that it will  extend all possible help to organise the India-West Indies ODI a day after HPCA president Anurag Thakur expressed uncertainty over holding it. “The government is fully committed to promotion of sports. It’s unfortunate that Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) president Anurag Thakur is unnecessarily trying to politicise the issue,” Urban Development Minister Sudhir Sharma said in a statement.
He said that Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh has already made it clear that the state government would extend all help for organising the One-Day International (ODI) in Dharamsala October 17. Sharma said: “The HPCA president is continuing to issue baseless political statements on the matter.”
The first ODI in picturesque Stadium of  Dharamsala was played between India and England January 27, 2013.
This stadium which is situated at the lap of Dhouladhar Snow Ranges has a 21,600-seat capacity, besides a world-class indoor stadium comprising of all modern facilities. The popularity of the venue soared after nine IPL matches were held there. In the last IPL season, Dharamsala was not allotted a single match owing to the tussle between the Congress-led state government and the HPCA.
