Bangalore, May 27, 2016: Institute of Health Management Research (IIHMR) organised its 5th convocation of Post Graduate Diploma in Hospital and Health Management (Batch 2014-16) and the first batch of PGDM in Health Information Technology at its Bangalore campus today. Dr Uma Nambair, Advisor to the Minister of Health, Djibouti - Africa, was the Guest of Honour at the convocation. The Chief Guest Dr. L. Devanand, Additional Senior Regional Director of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, GOI, addressed the convocation and awarded the degrees to the students along with Dr S.D. Gupta, President IIHMR University; including two gold medals to Ms. Shirin Patil & Ms. Harshlatha for their academic excellence.
Like every year all students got successfully placed in reputed hospitals, state government, health IT companies by the Institution with the highest package of INR 6, 00,000 PA and average package of INR 4,30,000 PA. The students were absorbed by NHM Gujarat, Deloitte, Allscripts, Global Hospital Hyderabad, Portea Medicals and Dell Services.
Talking at the convocation, Dr D. L. Devanand, Add. Senior Regional Director of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, GOI said, “The country today needs well trained healthcare management experts to manage the challenging healthcare services than ever before. I am delighted that IIMHR is making a phenomenal contribution to the society by extending the courses that will help the next set of healthcare professionals to align themselves to the ever changing industry. I congratulate the students for successful completion of their degree courses and wish a bright future for them”
Dr S.D. Gupta, President IIHMR University said “IIHMR takes pride in its appreciation for developing health management as an important discipline for improving the efficiency, effectiveness and quality of health care sector. We will continue to contribute substantially in the areas of education and research in the coming years, and we are confident that the contribution of our students will enhance the quality of health services in the country.”
Talking about the achievements of the institute Dr. Biranchi Jena, Director of IIHMR Bangalore, said, “The industry need highly trained healthcare management professionals and our 100% placement year on year is proof enough. In the last few years IIHMR has trained students who contribute to healthcare sector in India and abroad. We are the first educational institute to be NABET accredited as Hospital and Healthcare Consultant Organization for NABH Standard which helps hospitals to improve their service levels.”
IIHMR (Bangalore) is recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), and Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. The annual intake at IIHMR is 60 students a year. During the two year tenure, the students go for training and placement to various hospitals and healthcare organizations in India and abroad.
