Haryana government taking several steps to popularise yoga among school students

Chandigarh, May 18, 2015: Haryana Education Minister Mr Ram Bilas Sharma said that the state government is taking several steps to popularise yoga among school students. In this direction, a meeting will be held on May 19 where future possibilities will be chalked out and necessary directions will be issued for speedy compliance.

In a statement released today, the Education Minister said that, yoga has an important place since ancient times for maintaining good physical and mental health. For a healthy mind, a healthy body is needed. Keeping this in mind, the state government has taken an important initiative to imbibe cultural and moral values among children. With the efforts of Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi, Yoga has received recognition at the international level. The ensuing June 21 would be celebrated as International Yoga Day and on the occasion, yoga programmes would be organised in over100 countries. Yoga asanas would be organised in all educational institutions along with District Headquarters in Haryana and on the day, CD prepared by Indian Yoga Institute and many other yoga organizations would also be presented during the programme. / (SK Vyas, Jalandhar)
