Zonal Youth Festival of Educational Colleges inaugurated at GNDU

Amritsar, October 3, 2015: The Zonal Youth Festival of Educational Colleges was inaugurated here today in the Dashmesh Auditorium of the Guru Nanak Dev University. As many as students-artists of 16 educational colleges are participating in 22 various items. This festival would be concluded on October 5.

Eminent Orthopedician, Dr. Hardas Singh Sandhu, formally inaugurated this festival by lighting the candles. Sh. Daljit Singh Sandhu, Senior Producer, Doordarshan Kendra, Jalandhar was the guest of honour. Dr. Jagjit Kaur, Director, Youth Welfare welcomed the chief guest and others. She gave detail of the achievements of Youth Welfare Department.

Dr. Hardas Singh Sandhu said that for the progress of the country, there should be good health and excellent education system. He said that in today's era, youth got opportunity to get internet facility with classroom teaching. So they should use maximum modern technology to get education. He said that student should participate in cultural and other progressive activities to develop their self-confidence & personality.

Dr. Jagjit Kaur also honoured Chief Guest and guest of honour with mementos. Today, the festival was started with the item of Group Shabad/Bhajan followed by Group Song Indian, Folk Song, Geet/Gazal and Fine Arts.

On October 4 the competitions of  Costume Exhibition (Fancy Dress), Skit,  Mimicry, Elocution, Poetical Symposium, Rangoli and Phulkari will be organized. On the last day i.e.October 5, the competitions of Quiz Preliminary, Gidha and Debate followed by prize distribution function will be organized. / (SK Vyas, Jalandhar)
