'Hand Hygiene Week' concludes at DMCH

Ludhiana, May 13, 2017: A week-long ‘Hand Hygiene Week’ was organized by Department of Microbiology, which got concluded today.
Department of Microbiology had organized various activities including poster & slogan writing competition, Hand hygiene quiz contest and crossword puzzle competition for paramedical and technical staff from various departments of the hospital.
Dean Academics & Chairperson of Hospital Infection Control Committee-Dr Rajoo Singh Chhina, highlighted the role of infection prevention and control practices such as handwashing in preventing the spread of antibiotic resistance and emphasised that hand washing is the single most valuable way to prevent the transmission of pathogens.
Dr Deepinder Chhina (Professor & Head of Microbiology) talked about the importance of hand hygiene among healthcare workers. She addressed the residents, technicians and nursing staff about the technique and moments of hand washing.
Dr Veenu Gupta and residents conducted activities like word games, slogan writing, poster competition and quiz for paramedical staff and students. Infection control nurses trained the ICU staff by demonstrating hand washing techniques.

A role play was performed by the residents and infection control nurses to highlight the importance of hand hygiene.
Secretary of DMCH Managing Society Sh Prem Kumar Gupta congratulated the hospital infection control team and lauded the efforts of all the stake holders in helping to decrease Healthcare Associated Infections (HCAI). The members of hospital infection control team in DMC& H conduct regular checks and works on newer techniques to reduce antibiotic resistance and decrease Health-Care Associated Infections.

Principal Dr Sandeep Puri congratulated the team for its efforts and said that DMCH will always stress on inculcating proper Hand Hygiene Techniques among doctors,nurses and paramedical staff .
