Hyderabad, September 21, 2018: Grandmaster Deepan Chakkravarthy had a bumpy ride in the Round 4 of the Tetrasoft Hyderabad Marriott International Open Fide Rating Chess Tournament-2018. Playing against Parab Ritviz of Goa, Grandmaster Deepan managed to save half a point.
A tug-of-war was seen between International Master Ramnathan Balasubramaniam and International Master Rathnakaran of Southern Railways. But, Balasubramaniam pulled the whole point.
Another nail biting game was against the local player Venkata Ramana against one of the strong player from West Bengal, KaustuvKundu. Mr. Venkata Ramana has proved his brilliancy against the West Bengal player in his mother land.
It was see that players have shown their talent to the core that even the top seed Grandmaster Ghosh Diptayan had to sit and fight for 5 hours against Mr. Dhanajay J from Chhattisgarh to get a point.
Grandmaster Laxman took his opponent master Senthil Maran K an upcoming strong player from Tamil Nadu on his own style.
International Master elect Muthaiah Al, has shown his standard against Mr. Ramakrishna J from Andha Bank.
FIDE Master Ameya Audi had a tuff fight against Vendant Pimpalkhare in a tactical Queen ending, a quite long game of 78 moves and made his point.
International Master Saravana, Krishnan P, took Miss Bommini, Mounika Akshaya of Andhra Pradesh with white pieces and International Master Sangma, Rahul took his opponent Harisurya, BharadwajGundepudi of Andha Pradesh with white pieces.
This event witnessed a record of 274 players with 223 International Rated players from 15 States across India and special units from Southern Railways, ICF Andhra Bank and KVB.
The India’s oldest player Mr. T.V. Subramanian born in 1934 and Ms. Samhitha from Telangana, the youngest player born in 2014 are also competing. Subramanian who is 84 years old comes from Trichy in Tamil Nadu. I have been playing chess for the past 60 years, says Subramanian.
Selvan, father of Samhita says that it is their dream to see that their daughter becomes the youngest Grand Master. She recently played under 7 nationals in Bangalore and procured 3 points, inform the proud parents. Samhita, who lives in Bowenpally in the city is currently taking Chess coaching with South Mumbai Chess Academy.
A visually challenged, 23years old Sangam Krishna is also competing in this tournament.
The objective of the Tetrasoft Hyderabad Marriott Intl Open Fide Rating Chess tournament, according to Tetrasoft and Telangana Chess Association officials, is to improve and promote the game.
Tetrasoft India powers the tournament, the Provider of Information Technology and Consulting Services in collaboration with Hyderabad Marriott and The Telangana State Chess Association.
The five day battle of minds is organized by the ACT, Indian Chess School, and South Mumbai Chess Academy. The Tournament is conducted the second time in a row. This is the first time that the tournament is organized at five star hotel.
The tournament has drawn massive participation from several Chess Federations under FIDE, an international organization that connects various national chess federations across the world. The tournament will be held in nine rounds. Two rounds will be held on a daily basis and final round on Sunday.
On the whole, 102 prizes to be won in the tournament. The total prize money is Rupees Five Lakh. The Tournament will conclude on 23rd September at 2 pm with Prize Distribution.
