GNDU College at Jalandhar on Thursday organising FDP on entrepreneurship.

Jalandhar, December 18, 2014: GNDU College, Ladowali Road, Jalandhar is organising a 12 day ‘Faculty Development Programme’ on Entrepreneurship from December 18 to 29. Entrepreneurship Development Centre has been established under the guidance of worthy Vice Chancellor, Dr Ajaib Singh Brar and Dr Jaspal Singh Randhawa (Principal, GNDU College, Jalandhar). 35 teachers from different colleges of Punjab are participating in the event. Formation of EDC is an initiative to create job givers rather than job seekers. The programme is sponsored by EDII (Entrepreneurship Development Institute, Govt. of India, and Ahmedabad) and DST (Department of Science & Technology). The resource persons for the programme are from IIT, IIM, various state universities and successful entrepreneurs of renowned backgrounds. The Chief Guest of the day was Dr. Sharanjit Singh Dhillon, Registrer, GNDU Amritsar. He talked about the importance of innovation in present era and said that Punjab’s economy needs diversification in agriculture and for this the government must create innovative grounds.

Dr. Jaspal Singh Randhawa initiated his speech by holding a two minute silence to remember the victims of the terror attack on Army Public School, Peshawar, Pakistan. He also showed his appreciation towards Malala for belonging to the same state and still winning the Nobel Peace Prize. He focussed his speech on agricultural development and for training the youth to innovate new ideas in the field of agriculture. Further, he talked about how entrepreneurship has given us magnificent power and helped us in bridging the gaps between industry and academics.

Dr. Ashish Arora, Assistant Professor, GNDU College, Jalandhar and the co-ordinator of FDP extended the formal welcome. He discussed on the topics ‘Why Entrepreneurship’ and ‘The History of Entrepreneurship in India’. He also explained ‘Entrepreneurship Ecosystem Model.’ He concluded his speech by thanking all the guests.
