GKU Signs MOU with Portuguese University

Talwandi Sabo, February 27, 2015: A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has been signed on February 24 this year between Guru Kashi University, Talwandi Sabo, District Bathinda, Punjab (India) and University of LISBON (Largest University of Portugal).Under this innovative partnership both the institutions will create innovative drives, academic programs that will enable students to acquire professional skills and knowledge necessary for success in 21st century.  Both the institutions will join heads and hands together to launch a Post Graduate program in Management Information Systems, M.Sc. (MIS). 
Hence University of LISBON and Guru Kashi University, Talwandi Sabo have strong base in research and other related fields, the agreement also allows both the institutions to help in providing academic programs and additional future exchange of faculty and graduates to collaborate on research and teaching for the deserving and capable students. ISEG (School of Economics and Management, University of Lisbon) and GKU also announced a new merit based academic scholarship program. This program will award several scholarships to deserving students. The scholarship will help the students towards reduction in their tuition fee.
It is worth mentioning here that Guru Kashi University is having various awards and recognitions to its credit and has expert and dedicated faculty from the reputed institutions of the country. On the other hand, University of Lisbon also has faculty from USA, UK, France, Spain and other parts of the world. This strong base will definitely serve to a great extent to the students and teacher community.
Dr. Mario Fernando Maciel Calderia, Dean (ISEG) University of Lisbon is feeling proud to contribute towards the knowledge base of Guru Kashi University and its students through this management program. This partnership represents the start of collaborative efforts focused to strengthen the global critical field information system, he further added.
Gurlabh Singh Sidhu, Chairman, Guru Kashi University expressed happiness that working closely with University of Lisbon would result in producing next generation information system leaders. Sidhu further added that this academic exchange once again demonstrates GKU’s commitment of offering career oriented academic programs to meet the needs of the industry and the community as well.
Dr. N.S. Malhi, Vice Chancellor Guru Kashi University stated that this MOU will allow students from both the sides to gain knowledge, skills and international exposure. Dr. Malhi further added that by this sharing, students will have the opportunity to take specific courses within the program, allowing them to pursue specialised areas within information systems, to delve into current issues and to better prepare for professional careers not only in India but all around the world.
