Jalandhar, June 23, 2015: A top delegation from Australia constituted on Member of Western Australian Parliament, Chair of Advisory Board for Food and Bio Security Mr Ian Maxwell, and Vice President (Perth Division) Liberal Party of Australia Mr Jim Seth visited Lovely Professional University. Two-member delegation represented Perth Province of Western Australia on an explorative visit to develop stronger relationship between Perth Province and in a whole way Punjab State. Visitors’ prime motive was to explore prospective areas of partnership in education, research and other avenues with LPU.
Carrying top agenda of discussions on opening a Food Technology & Security Research unit at LPU, Australian delegates met LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal and other senior functionaries of Division of International Affairs. The feasibility sought for opening of the prestigious research center is to function in collaboration with Murdoch University of Australia. Murdoch University is a public university based in Perth, Western Australia with campuses in Singapore and Dubai also.
Member of Western Australian Parliament Mr Ian Maxwell expressed his satisfaction over discussions held with LPU authorities. Mr Maxwell shared: “We are already aware about credibility and standing of LPU right in our country Australia also. Having important discussions with LPU Chancellor Mr Mittal this notion has been further strengthened. We are anticipating working closely with LPU to further get more such associations in allied academic and other fields.”
LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal said: “With this visit of top Australian Delegates to LPU, we have certainly stretched a strong step further towards internationalization of education. This international expansion in the realms of food and security is going to be beneficial to our Punjab state, as well, which is already top food-grains producer in the country. This collaboration will indeed prove great for the amazing development of the region with diversified opportunities and benefits.”
Mr Jim Seth, who is an active Indian origin politician in Western Australia, also shared that he wants to work in the region where he grew up. Mr Seth mentioned: “I have accumulated much knowledge in diversified fields while living in Australia. Now, I want the people of my region should also be benefitted through all those opportunities which I availed and acted for. Certainly LPU is to provide a greater platform to reach to masses in the Punjab, my birth place, in India.”
