GKU Now Becomes Collaborator of ICAR

Talwandi Sabo, May 29, 2018: GKU Chairman S.Gurlabh Singh Sidhu announced today that the University College of Agriculture (UCoA) has received the letter of intent for accreditation from the NAEAB-ICAR, making it one of the Premier Institute in India especially in Punjab. UCoA is performing well for almost all types of agriculture extension activities and trainings responding to Agriculture outbreaks and other emergency situations.
"Gaining this Letter of Intent for accreditation enabling us to provide enhanced services in the field of agriculture" said Dr.B.S.Dhaliwal, Vice Chancellor of University.
Dr.A.S.Sidhu, Dean UCoA explained that Accreditation provided by a National Body ICAR which has been assigned accreditation work by the Govt of India, provides the requisite assurance that minimum standards are being upheld in the delivery of services. Now, the UCoA has been working with the National Accreditation Body to have its B.Sc Agriculture (Hons.) programmes accredited. To successfully gain accreditation, facilities that are specifically meant for direct teaching and le. Facilities including classrooms, classroom seats, laboratories, library and audio-visual learning equipment are adequate for accreditation. These facilities will include constant maintenance of living quarters, main buildings, farm buildings and infrastructure, computer and laboratory facilities, library, recreational and other miscellaneous facilities.
Dr. Ashwani Sethi, Director Planning said that This accreditation will enable the UCoA faculty & Students to have research projects, grants etc from ICAR a National body. He also added that Ministry of New & Renewable energy, MNRE, MHRD Govt of India has already signed MoU with UCoA, Guru Kashi University and made GKU as a part of its major project on Solar Radiation Resource Assessment (SARA) under joint collaboration. The Ministry has installed Equipment worth 5 crore to access Monthly values of Solar Radiation and Meteorological parameters.
The faculty of the UCoA includes reputed scientists Dr. B.S. Chahal in the field of Horticulture, Dr. Sham Singh Dhillon in the field of Plant Breeding, Dr. A.S. Sidhu National Expert in the field Water Management, Dr. B.S. Sidhu in the field of Soil Science, Dr. Daljeet Singh in the field of vegetable Science are giving their expertises in the core sectors of Agriculture. The Managing Director S.Sukhraj Singh Sidhu congratulates all the staff and students of College of Agriculture for this great achievement. He also elaborated that GKU is not only a teaching institute in Agriculture but also be an extension institute for providing Agricultural Expert Services to the farmers of the area.
