Bangalore: Round Table India and Ladies Circle India in association with Timken Foundation recently held a ground breaking ceremony for the construction of a State of the Art Auditorium at the Government Model Primary School in Hebbagodi. The initiative to construct this advanced facility was taken in order to provide a platform for students to learn and practice Performing Arts while promoting its importance.
In 2011, Round Table India and Ladies Circle India had built four classroom blocks in the same school. This was done to improve the quality of education by providing the right infrastructure and resources that might aid the school in imparting quality academic education.
Post the successful completion of providing basic education, the focus was on providing equally important skills like Performing Arts. To try and encourage Drama, Theatre, Dance and Music among children, the Timken Auditorium is being built to help in practicing and performing the arts.
Speaking for this occasion, Anjanil Gupta, Chairman of Bangalore Round Table 7 said,” As a country, we have always been primarily focused on a scientific education without realizing the importance of arts in students’ development and growth. The performing arts are a way for the student to explore their creative side and express themselves in different ways. To ensure that this field receives equal importance, we have initiated the construction of this auditorium.
Adding to this, Mr. Sanjay Kaul, Managing Director of Timken Foundation said, “While many private schools are well equipped with modern facilities to enhance theatre, music and dance, government schools are sorely lacking in this field. It is necessary to provide the opportunity for students to discover the arts which can be done by utilizing the auditorium to the fullest”.
