`Flame of Truth’ Rally taken out in Ludhiana

Ludhiana, August 30, 2012: The `Flame of Truth’ Rally was taken out from Sunder Nagar Chowk to Vishnu Mandir in the Madhopuri Area here today.
It was handed over to Tibetan Refugee Traders’ Association general secretary Chime Tsering by Pema Jungney, Member of Parliament, Tibetan Parliament in Exile.
Thousands of locals and Tibetans-in Exile were present on the occasion.
The `Flame of Truth’ procession was led by President of Lala Tibetan Hosiery Association Ashwani Chawla (Bittu) and participated by Indo-Tibetan Hosiery Association and Tibetan Refugee Traders Association.
Speaking on the occasion, Pema Jungney highlighted about the objectives and the reasons of organising the Flame of Truth rally. He said the situation in Tibet today was very critical. The number of self immolation continued to increase which was a grave concern for them. “Today the number of Tibetan self immolation  has come to 51”, he said, adding one’s life was precious  to everyone, no one would set oneself in fire.
He said, “When our  brothers and sisters opted for self immolation, it shows that they are desperate and unhappy”, adding Tibetans inside Tibet had no freedom to practice their own religion nor do they have freedom to express that others enjoyed. They were subjected to torture and repression, he regretted.
Pema appealed the gathered dignitaries, including doctors, lawyers, industrialists, social workers, politicians, members of Tibet support group, Indo-Tibet business association, people from media and the local residents of Ludhiana to support the cause and sign the petition that would be submitted UN on December 10,2012.
Further, he said they wanted that the United Nations must discuss the issue of Tibet based on the resolutions that it had passed in 1959, 1961 and 1965, and continuously make efforts to fulfil the substance of these resolutions He said they also wanted that an independent international
fact-finding delegations must immediately be sent to investigate the ongoing crisis in Tibet
Besides, the United Nations must take special responsibility to ensure that the basic aspirations of the Tibetans inside Tibet were fulfilled.

 Among others, Ashwani Chawla, President, Manjit Kumar, Vice President, Subhash Dang, Cashier, Kewal Budhiraja, General Secretary, Om Parkash secretary , Mukesh Uppal Joint Secretary  of Lala Tibetan Hosiery Association, Surinder Dawar, MLA, Ludhiana. and Chime Tsering General Secretary Tibetan Refugee Trader’s Association were present.
A signature campaign was also carried out on the occasion. SurinderDawar, MLA, Ludhiana, was the first one who signed on the signature book
