UIAMS kick-starts it’s MBA with Orientation Programme and Investiture Ceremony

Chandigarh, July16, 2018: University Institute of Applied Management Sciences, Panjab University, offering sectoral MBA programmes, organised an Orientation Programme for its students of 2018-20 batch. The occasion was graced by Prof.Nishtha Jaswal, Dean University Instruction, Panjab University as Chief Guest, Mr Dinesh Dua, CEO, Nectar Lifesciences and Satinder S Ahuja, National Head, Rural Finance, HDFC Limited as the Guests of Honour. The Director UIAMS, Prof. Upasna Joshi Sethi welcomed the students of the new batch. She also extended a welcome to the students of the senior batch of the institute and invited them to facilitate and support in the on-boarding process of the new students. She highlighted the importance of good organisations and how they are bound by a common purpose. Prof. Nishtha Jaswal, in her address, highlighted the importance of moral values in professional and personal life. Prof. Jaswal shared beautiful lines from her poetry through which she encouraged the students to pursue their dreams wholeheartedly. Mr. Dinesh Dua, CEO, Nectar Lifesciences shared his life experiences with the students. In his inspirational talk he encouraged the students to dream big in life and then chart their plan for success. He also shared examples of the most successful entrepreneurs and business leaders and their success mantras. This was followed by a talk by Satinder S Ahuja, National Head, Rural Finance, HDFC Limited, who shared tips on resume writing and customising them in order to highlight ones’ strengths. He also highlighted the role of statistics and data in managerial decision making today. He stressed on the importance of summer internship as a way of gaining first hand industry knowledge as well as creating an impression on prospective employers to create opportunities such as pre placement offers. Prof. Sanjeev Sharma briefed the students about the institute and the unique curriculum offered by UIAMS. He further briefed the students about the rules and regulations, pedagogy followed at UIAMS, the facilities available for students and the co-curricular clubs that students can join during the two year course. He further shared information about student centric facilities available at UIAMS and Panjab University. On this occasion, the alumni of UIAMS shared their thoughts through their video messages for the freshers. This was followed by the Investiture Ceremony where the departmental ties/ scarves were presented to the Batch of 2018-20 by UIAMS faculty. Training and Placement Officer, Dr. Amandeep Singh Marwaha shared his vision about the path to success with the students. He informed the students about the major employers at UIAMS over the past years, the placement rules and a tentative placement calendar for the current session. The event was coordinated by Dr. Manjushri Sharma and it concluded with a vote of thanks to the Guests, Faculty, Staff, students and parents by Dr. Anupreet K. Mavi.
